“Aesthetics of Wellness”, curated by Woman Made’s Executive Director Sydney Stoudmire. The stereotypical images used by the mass media to portray good health are usually of young, slim, able-bodied white women, a model that ignores people of color and caters only to those who can afford costly wellness-related services. “Aesthetics of Wellness” addresses this racial bias, income disparity and social inequity by exploring a variety of holistic healing practices taking place in Chicago’s diverse, multi-ethnic communities.”
